These are the poor pigs that are in the grocery store (these are the unskinned ones)
These are the skinned pigs....I feel so bad for them!

This is ONE of the walls of pig legs...notice it's 2 legs deep!

There are a bunch of these too...a kiosk of pig legs!

Well, I made it to Spain! My flight was good and pretty quick for as excited as I was to get here! The first day, Bryan took me to the apartment so Inger could sniff around and see where her "potty" area was. We then walked with her to a place that makes Doner Karbob's, thin shaved beef with lettuce, tomatoe, cheese, onion and a white sauce wrapped in a tortilla! It was delicious! We took it back to the apartment to eat and watch some tv and again give Inger some sniffing time. I was exhausted from the time change so I layed my head down to take a short nap....5 hours later I woke up! Yes, traveling East will do that to you, especially that big of a time change! Then, Bryan took me to the grocery store (Carrefour) to buy dinner and give me the runaround. There are so many new things to try and get the guts to try! We kept it simple and bought Lobster (2 of them for a little over $9) and Halibut. We went down the wine aisle...WINE GALORE!!! The grocery store is on the bottom and shopping up above it...I didn't go see it, but it looks huge!
The second day, Bryan and I walked to eat chinese food at Chon Dong (I took a picture of it)....it is called something else, but that's the name Bryan and Alan gave it! It was very good...suprisingly! I had beef and mushrooms! At the end, Bryan told me to get a dessert that was a coconut shell with ice cream in the shell....oh my! It was the best! We then walked home, which was a good thing, we had so much to eat! We sat around the apartment for a while longer and then went down to a bar/restaurant downstairs (I forgot the name). It was crowded but Bryan knew a couple of the bartenders so it was nice to be known in a foreign place. We ordered a seafood platter (yes, the seafood is that good) and a side of Octopus! Some of you might be gagging right now, but it is probably the best "sea" food I have ever ever had! Yes, you eat the tentacles and they come off while you chew! They are a little salty, but good nontheless.
Alan and his friend came home from Avila last night (where they play ball) so we could all hang out...plus we are having to move. His friend is Paul and from New Jersey! We all went to the casino at about midnight or so. We played until 5 in the morning!!! I was on the blackjack table for a long time...Alan came over to show me his winnings on the slot machines. So, like an idiot, I followed him and started playing slots...I lost. I lost huge! Screw the slots...back to the blackjack! Played for a while longer, then went to the Roulette table where Bryan was playing. I lost there too. I took my last 50 Euros and played blackjack....I lost. DAMN! Even though I lost, the boys made up for it and we ended up even for the night. After that, we came home to eat some cheese and sausage sent from Wisconsin and went to bed!
So far, I love it here! Things are very different, obviously, but it's part of the learning curve! Spanish speaking is a challenge right now because they speak so fast! Bryan has taught me some things already and made me "ask for our bill" (I already forgot)...I was nervous and sweaty! I know I have the world's worst Texas accent, so it makes me nervous. But, they accept Americans trying more than we accept Mexicans not trying in Texas! So, they help!
Another thing I have noticed....there aren't really any rules. For instance, kids can play with fire crackers all day long. It sounds like we are in the middle of a war here! I keep looking at Bryan and he just laughs! When I think of more, I will type. For now, we are going to Avila!
XOXO,
LeighAnn
